On April 20, 1955 , the Riviera Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada opened it's doors to the public and 'Classic Vegas' was born. The property became known as the 'Entertainment Capital of the World' and its showroom's hosted the greatest stars of its day. The property sadly closed it's doors on May 4, 2015 to make way for the expansion of the Las Vegas Convention Center. This website is dedicated to keeping the spirit of The Riv alive.
This website was created by Michele Popejoy. She worked for over 20 year in the casino & hotel industry in Las Vegas and worked at the Riviera in its final years.
Ms. Popejoy has the distinction of being the last Marketing and Advertising Manager at the property. Michele feels that is her duty to preserve the properties rich history. During her final days at The Riv, she catalogued and archived public relations files and other historical materials that were unearthed in the properties final days. This website will share some of her discoveries.
Currently, Michele is working on a book focused on the entertainers of the Riviera.
